Koushu Amehata Suzuri

This inkstone is made from a stone called “Amahatamaishi,” discovered about 300 years ago in the upper reaches of the Hayakawa River. Its greatest characteristic lies in the “hombo,” considered the life of the inkstone. The hombo refers to the fine particles on the surface of the inkstone where the ink is ground, resembling tiny, rough ridges. These particles are fine and uniform, and the stone has an ideal hardness, making it excellent for both initial ink grinding and ink production.
