Fourth generation kumihimo (hand woven silk cord) artisan FUKUDA Ryuta was born in 1993 and began training at the age of 14 under the tutelage of his father at Ryukobo studio in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. The studio was founded in 1889 and the family's skills and techniques have been passed down from generation to generation ever since. Fukuda considers kumihimo a kind of bridge that connects him to other people around the world.
