Biography

Kako was born in Kyoto in 1965 to a family of traditional Kyoto style ceramic makers and being creative has always been an important quality for him. Kako chose clay because he feels drawn to it as a natural material and resonates with how the elements of the pieces are completed by the fire in a kiln. After studying ceramics for 2 years at Saga Art College, Kako began creating his original ceramic art pieces and showing them at numerous exhibitions all over Japan. His pieces have been widely collected at museums not only in Japan but in the west.
